Arie's Story

"With Dr. Zimmerman's assistance, my life has returned to normal."

I first visited Dr. Zimmerman in late June of 2012. Prior to becoming a patient of Dr. Zimmerman's, I had seen many doctors about symptoms I had been experiencing since the end of December. I had neck and lower back issues, especially after breaking my tailbone after a fall a few years ago. Towards the end of 2011, I began having diarrhea multiple times a day. I went to the doctor and they tested me for food poisoning and the results came back negative. My doctor gave me a prescription for Lomotil in hopes this would slow down my intestines. After a week and a half my symptoms had subsided, but after a week of "remission" the diarrhea returned. Along with the multiple instances of diarrhea I was experiencing daily, I now had nausea and vomiting. I immediately saw my doctor again and they tested my gallbladder. The results showed my gallbladder was not functioning at all. I met with my surgeon and he expressed that the chances were the surgery would not take care of all of my symptoms, but I thought it was worth a try. The surgery took care of the nausea and vomiting, but I still suffered from chronic diarrhea and began to notice weight and hair loss. 
 

I was then recommended to a gastroenterologist in Iowa City and after he performed a colonoscopy, capsule endoscopy, endoscopy, CT scan of my abdomen and multiple blood tests, all of the procedures were coming up with nothing. My gastroenterologist had prescribed me codeine, which was working since it is a muscle relaxer, but I did not like the side effects I was experiencing after taking the pill along with a bile binder that I felt was not working. After 6 months of dealing with chronic diarrhea, I contacted Mayo. 
 

At the same time Dr. Zimmerman, a good friend, contacted me about trying Upper Cervical care and wanted me to give it a try. I started my treatment with Dr. Zimmerman in late June. Within two weeks of treatment, I began to notice a change in my stools, as I was experiencing solid and loose stools. In mid-July, I went to my appointment at Mayo and met with a gastroenterologist. After looking over all my medical tests, he diagnosed me with irritable bowel syndrome after a suspected virus altered my immune and nervous system. He wanted to give my body some more time to recover and if I was not better by August, to make another appointment. 
 

I continued with my treatments from Dr. Zimmerman and I am VERY happy to say that my diarrhea has become my past.  I have also noticed that my neck and lower back pain and stiffness have disappeared.  As an added bonus, I am happy to report that after 20 plus years of my parents nagging me about my posture, they recently commented on how much my posture has improved. 
 

With Dr. Zimmerman's assistance, my life has returned to normal. Before I started treatment with him, I constantly had to keep in mind where the bathrooms were located.  I am so thankful that Dr. Zimmerman contacted me, to show me what Upper Cervical care could do for my body.  I have been able to put back on some weight and my hair loss is decreasing.  It seems that I am on the road to recovery and my body seems to be in good, working order!
